New Delhi: The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has decided to postpone the examinations to 29th July. The exams were initially scheduled to be held in May, which was later postponed to June-July due to the lockdown.

The students have been asking for a further extension as the country is entering its third phase of the lockdown. The ICAI did not respond to the student's request after the second phase. According to a report, Chartered Accountant examinations initially scheduled from May 2 to May 18 stand rescheduled to be held from June 19 to July 4. Now it has been scheduled for 29th July.

In the notice released by the ICAI “In continuation to the Important Announcement dated 27th March 2020, it is hereby notified for general information that in view of the ongoing spurt of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the interest of the wellbeing of students, the Chartered Accountant Examinations scheduled from 19th June 2020 to 4th July 2020* stand rescheduled and the said examinations shall now be held from 29th July 2020 to 16th August 2020”

India is entering the third phase of lockdown from May 4th for another two weeks. With admissions and exams looming all universities are trying to plan an academic calendar which will be suitable for the students n the coming months, in a video conference with the Vice Chancellors of government universities of Delhi, CM Arvind Kejriwal discussed and emphasized on using technology to the maximum to cover up the academic losses. The universities are also considering online examinations for the remaining exams. According to a news report, college sessions will begin in August for current students and September for new ones, the University Grants Commission had said on Wednesday. The admission process in universities will also begin in August.
