In its recent order, the NDA-led Bihar government has directed school authorities to reopen their senior sections and hostels starting January 4, 2021. While making the announcement, the state government also said that it will distribute free masks in every school.
As per reports, the government has asked to reopen senior sections from January 4 and after an observation of 15 days junior sections will be reopened if all goes well.
As per reports, Bihar government took decision to reopen schools after taking feedback from the other states where schools and colleges are already functioning amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Several other including Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and a few others have already allowed reopening of schools in a graded manner. The functioning of schools in these states is in line with Centre’s guidelines that allows a flexible approach in reopening schools for Classes 9 to 12 since November.

Schools in Jharkhand reopened on December 16 whereas in Madhya Pradesh classrooms started from December 18 (Today). Classroom teaching for students of Classes 10 and 12 outside the containment zones in Jharkhand will resume from December 21, following the issuance of a circular by the state government.
Social distancing and other guidelines issued amid the coronavirus pandemic will have to be followed. From December 21, classes will also recommence in medical, dental and nursing colleges across the state.
Starting January 1, 2021, Kerala educational institutions will also open partially under strict Covid-19 protocols as only 50 per cent students will be allowed to attend the classes. Whether there can be two shifts in a day -- is under consideration.
It has been decided that starting New Year, besides Classes 10 and 12, final year degree and post graduate classes will also begin.
