Patna: Six universities in Bihar have appointed new vice-chancellors. After consultation with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday, Governor-cum-Chancellor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar announced the appointment of six vice-chancellors for various universities in the state. The governor is also the Chancellor of the state-run universities. According to a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan on Tuesday, the appointment of six new vice-chancellors in six universities was announced following the recommendations of a search committee.
"Those who have been appointed as VCs are: Sanjay Kumar Choudhary (Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga), Laxmi Niwas Pandey ( Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Darbhanga), Bimlendu Shekhar Jha (B N Mandal University, Madhepura), Dinesh Chandra Rai (Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur), Pramendra Kumar (Jai Prakash University, Chapra) and Sharad Kumar Yadav (Aryabhatta University, Patna)", said the statement.
It has been stated that the term of the newly appointed vice-chancellors will be for a period of three years from the date of assuming office. In this regard, a notification has been issued by the Governor's Secretariat. Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister of Bihar had discussed this matter with the Governor at the Raj Bhavan.
