Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked the state education department to carefully assess and work out ways to introduce the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus in government schools of the state. In his guidelines while reviewing the Education department’s activities, the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister also stressed upon the inclusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a higher education subject in the study syllabus. “The study should serve the purpose of shaping students into world-class products in tune with the changing trends in science and technology, business, research and economic fields,” PTI reported Reddy as saying in a press release. 


The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister further underlined that the state government is striving hard to ensure that children from the state get recognition and respect on the global stage. He further said that unlike the previous TDP government, the YSRCP government is trying to bolster creativity among young students.

Following the guidelines for the chief minister, Andhra Pradesh officials apprised the CM of the establishment of Centres of Excellence for Research in the state to pave the way for the introduction of foundation courses in final semesters of higher education. The CM was further informed about the vision to develop world-class courses for teaching, assessment and research. 


Furthermore, CM Reddy also asked officials to add more subjects in AI by harnessing international academic resources like the International Bureau, and roll out such courses on a pilot basis before bringing them full-fledgedly into the state education system. The CM was further informed that over one lakh students have enrolled for the massive open online courses (MOOCs). These MOOCs will allow students to learn over 1.5 lakh courses and earn up to 5 lakh credits.
