Ahmedabad: A 24-year-old student from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) allegedly died by suicide in his hostel room on Thursday evening, news agency PTI quoted police as saying.
The student, Akshit Hemant Bhukya, was from the Warangal district in Telangana and was in his second year of the MBA program, said V.D. Mori, the in-charge inspector of Vastrapur police station.
Police were alerted after some students spotted Bhukya hanging from the metal grille of the ventilator in his room, said Mori.
"The incident took place in the hostel situated on the new campus of IIMA. We have not found any suicide note. We have sent his mobile phone and laptop for forensic analysis to get a clue about the reasons for this tragedy," the police official added.
Another Student Dies By Suicide At NLU Delhi
A first-year undergraduate student at National Law University (NLU), Delhi, Shah Khushil Vishal, died by suicide on Sunday. In his memory, NLU Delhi has declared September 23 as a non-teaching day. This is the second such incident at the university within a month, following the suicide of third-year student Amrutavarshiny Senthil Kumar earlier this month.
The Student Bar Council of National Law University, Delhi (NLU Delhi) has issued a statement regarding the recent suicide of a student, marking the third such incident in the past three months.
"The Student Bar Council is dedicated to supporting the student body during these difficult times and ensuring that your concerns are addressed. We are collaborating closely with the administration to respond to the issues raised by students," the statement reads.
