Jaipur: A NEET aspirant from Uttar Pradesh has committed suicide in Kota, Rajasthan, confirmed officials on Tuesday. Uruj, 20, hailed from the Samdhan village in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district and had been residing in Kota for the past year. He was actively preparing for the NEET examination at a coaching institute in the area, as reported by news agency IANS. On Tuesday morning, his family members attempted to contact him multiple times, but received no response. Then, they reached out to his friends residing in the Jawahar Nagar area, who then went to the building where Uruj was staying and informed the nearby owner about the student not receiving calls. A guard went to his room, and upon receiving no response despite repeated attempts, the police were called immediately.


The police reached the spot and broke the door open to find Uruj's body hanging from the fan.


According to Vigyan Nagar police officials, the student was scoring only average marks in studies. At present the reasons are being ascertained, said the officials, adding further investigation is going on.

NEET Aspirant 'Fakes' Her Kidnapping


A 21-year-old woman allegedly faked her abduction to extort a ransom of Rs 30 lakh from her parents, with the intention of raising funds to travel abroad. According to a report by news agency PTI, Kavya, who remains untraceable at present, had spent only three days in Kota throughout the entire year after her mother had enrolled her in a hostel for coaching classes in 2023.

The Kota Police stated that Kavya had been sending photographs and messages to her parents, leading them to believe that she was still in the coaching hub of Rajasthan, where her mother had initially left her.
