A students group has claimed that the Delhi police detained as many as 15 students who were protesting outside the Indraprastha College for Women, news agency PTI reported. The students were protesting against alleged harassment during a college fest. However, Delhi police has denied the charges.

Earlier last week, the All India Students Association (AISA) led a protest against the alleged harassment in Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW), and the administration’s response towards it. During the incident, a large number of police personnel were deployed with barricades at the college gate, the report added further.

"About 15 AISA activists have been detained from the college gate and are being taken to Burari police station," Delhi University’s AISA unit president Abhigyan was quoted as saying in the report.

However, debunking the allegations, a senior official was reported saying as “Around 10-15 protesters had gathered outside the college gate,” who were peacefully removed from the spot, and nobody has been detained.

Notably, earlier last week, several students of Delhi University’s Indraprastha College for Women alleged that several men scaled the boundary walls of the campus and harassed women students at the college. The incident was reported on March 28, during the womens’ college’s fest ‘Shurti,’ where artist Asses Kaur was to perform.

The students of the college also claimed that the college administration and the police did not respond to the matter. Activists from the All India Students Association (AISA) have further alleged that the men chanted slogans like "Miranda, IP dono hamara (Miranda House and Indraprastha College both are ours)" and "Miranda nahi chhoda to IP bhi nahi chhodenge (We didn't leave Miranda, we won't leave IP either)".

Following the incident, on March 29, several women students staged a protest against the incident and the administration’s lacklustre response towards it. In the wake of the incident, the Delhi Police reportedly detained several women students protesting outside the campus.
