New Delhi: A video of a clash between customers and restaurant staff surfaced on social media, where people from both sides can be seen assaulting each other at the Spectrum Mall in Noida’s Sector 75.
According to PTI, both parties have filed cases against each other in connection with the incident.
A Twitter user shared the video of the fight on the social media platform and captioned it, "Fight erupted between customers and staff in Noida’s Spectrum mall after restaurant levied ₹970 service charges."
The victim, under the handle @Sunita57356474, took to Twitter to narrate the harrowing ordeal.
Inspector-in-charge Jitendra Kumar Singh stated that a female lawyer residing in Block-B of Sector-51 had come to celebrate her future daughter-in-law's birthday with her family at a restaurant called "Float by Duty-Free" in the Spectrum Mall situated in Sector-75.
According to PTI, she alleged that the hotel staff demanded a substantial amount as a 'service charge' from her. In response, she informed them that according to the High Court's order, they cannot levy a 'service charge' without the customer's consent. Subsequently, the hotel staff, allegedly, physically assaulted her and her family members.
The police inspector further mentioned that the hotel management has also lodged a complaint against the female lawyer, and her family members, accusing them of assault, obscene behavior, and other offenses.
“In the restaurant located in Spectrum Mall of Police Station Sector 113 area, there was an incident of argument/fight between the customers and restaurant staff regarding the service charge, in relation to which both sides have filed complaints and FIRs have been registered,” the Indian Express reported citing an official.
