New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj attacked the BJP-led central government over the arrest of former Delhi deputy chief minister and party veteran Manish Sisodia on Wednesday reported news agency ANI. He alleged that Sisodia was denied access to the "vipassana cell" and was placed in Tihar Jail alongside other dreaded criminals.

While addressing a press conference in this location, Bharadwaj stated, "The reason behind holding this conference today on Holi is to expose the Centre's conspiracy due to which Manish Sisodia is behind the bars."

He asserted that Sisodia's arrest in the Liquor Scam case was part of a significant conspiracy.

"He (Sisodia) has been kept under Jail No.1 of Tihar, while such first trial people are not kept there. Jail no.1 is home to some of the most dreaded criminals and murderers," he stated.

Meanwhile, the authorities at Delhi Prison stated that Sisodia has been confined to a ward of Central Jail Number, rejecting the allegations made by the Aam Aadmi Party as "unfounded." One of the Tihar prisons where there are few inmates and no gangsters.

"Manish Sisodia has been assigned a segregated ward keeping his security in mind. The ward of CJ-1, where he is lodged has the minimum number of inmates who are not gangsters and are maintaining good conduct inside the jail," said Prison Officials.

"A separate cell makes it possible for him to meditate or do other activities without any disturbance. All arrangements, as per Jail Rules, are in place to ensure his safety and security. Any aspersions cast about his lodgings are unfounded," the official added.

Bharadwaj also made fun of the BJP government for losing the Delhi assembly and MCD elections to the AAP.

The AAP leader posed the question, "We are political rivals of BJP, but does this kind of enmity happen in politics, we want to know from BJP, you could not defeat us in Delhi, MCD, will the Prime Minister take revenge for this defeat in this way."

Bharadwaj said that the BJP was planning to kill leaders of his party.

Bharadwaj further alleged that the BJP was conspiring to kill his party leaders. "Why is PM Modi silent on the matter. You are not able to harm AAP politically, you have even sent them to jail and now the conspiracy has reached the point of killing our leaders," the AAP leader said.

Bharadwaj claimed that as per the court's order, "Sisodia was supposed to be kept in a Vipassana cell but why is he being kept with such dangerous criminals."

"Today Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain are not among us but there is also concern whether the central government will also carry out political killings," Bharadwaj said.

"From June 2022 to March 2023, the central government said every day that raids were conducted here today and arrests were made. But what is coming out of these, you have the license to lift anyone. CBI should tell from where did they get the money, if they can't find it, it is shame on them and the Centre."

The CBI took Sisodia into custody on February 26 as part of their ongoing investigation into a case involving alleged flaws in the formulation and implementation of the excise policy for the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).

On March 6, Special Judge MK Nagpal remanded Sisodia to 14 days in judicial custody, noting that the CBI's custody of the case had expired and that the investigation had not requested additional custody of him at this time, but it could be requested later if necessary.
