Kejriwal, Sisodia, Jain Will Sit In Same Barrack Of Tihar Jail Soon, Says BJP

Delhi BJP president said at a press conference that "three friends" who miss each other – Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain – will sit in the same Tihar jail barrack.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) escalated its attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday, accusing him of being the "mastermind" of the alleged liquor policy scam, as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summoned him for questioning in connection with the case on April 16.

At a press conference, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said "three friends" who miss each other – Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Satyendar Jain – will sit in the same Tihar jail barrack.

"The Delhi BJP has always claimed that Kejriwal is the mastermind of the liquor scam in which his minister Manish Sisodia is currently imprisoned. Because the excise policy was approved by his Cabinet under his chairmanship, Kejriwal is directly involved in the scam," Sachdeva claimed.

He claimed that the Kejriwal administration's excise policy cost the city of Delhi money and harmed society. The Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22 was scrapped by the Kejriwal government shortly after LG VK Saxena recommended a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities in its implementation in July 2022. In February of this year, the CBI arrested former deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who also held the excise portfolio in the Kejriwal government.

News agency PTI reported citing CBI sources, money raised from changing the policy in favour of certain liquor dealers and the South lobby is suspected of being pumped in for election purposes by the AAP, which is being investigated as part of the money trail. 

Satyendar Jain, a former minister in Kejriwal's government, has also been imprisoned for nearly a year after being arrested by the ED in a money laundering case.

The AAP government has called the CBI and ED investigation into the excise policy a "move by the Modi government to obstruct good works of Delhi government in health and education sectors."

According to Sachdeva, the investigation into the liquor scam case has reached a critical stage, and "the day is not far when Kejriwal will join Sisodia and Jain in Tihar."

BJP MP Parvesh Verma questioned why the AAP government was paying huge fees to defend itself in court if it had done nothing wrong. Verma questioned Kejriwal's ability to avoid responsibility when his deputy, Manish Sisodia, is in jail for alleged irregularities in a policy approved by his own cabinet.
