Delhi Traffic Advisory: With Diwali and Dhanteras celebrations knocking on our doors, Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory on Thursday for the routes which will be affected during these festivals. The Traffic Police said that pre-Diwali high volume of traffic is likely to be seen on the City roads, especially around shopping malls and the areas around which witness high footfall due to several reasons.






Below are the markets that are expected to receive very high footfalls in this festive season: 



  • Chandni Chowk

  • Khari Baoli

  • Connaught Place

  • Karol Bagh

  • Sarojini Nagar

  • Sadar Bazar

  • Central Market Lajpat Nagar

  • Yusuf Sarai Market/Green Park

  • Nehru Place

  • Anupam Cinema Market


The areas that will be affected are: 


Main Chandni Chowk Road, Netaji Subhash Marg, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chandni Chowk, Lal Kila Marg, Dariba Kalan, Kucha Mahajani, Bhagirath Palace, Church Mission Road, Swami Vivekananda Marg, New Bazar Road, Panchkuian Road, Inner, Outer Circle Connaught Place, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, Ashoka Road, areas around Gol Market.


Some other areas which will also be affected according to the advisory are: Arya Samaj Road, Gurudwara Road, Faiz Road, Africa Avenue Road, Brigadier Hoshiyar Singh Marg, Shri Vinayak Mandir Marg, Moti Bagh Chowk, between Ring Road and Rajmata Vijayaraje Sindhiya Marg, Veer Banda Bairagi Marg towards Azad Market, Rani Jhansi Road towards Bara Hindu Rao Chowk, Jorawar Singh Marg Pul Mithai/Khanna Market behind Tis Hazari Court. Sadar Thana Road, Kutub Road, Azad Market Road, Bahadurgarh Road.


The advisory read, "To avoid inconvenience, save time and fuel and reduce pollution, the general public is advised to utilise the services of public transport like buses, metro rail, carpools, etc."


It further stated, "General public and motorists are advised to keep patience, observe traffic rules and road discipline and follow directions of traffic personnel deployed at all intersections."
