Delhiites on Wednesday woke up to dust-carrying gusty winds with a speed of 30-50 Kilometres per hour blowing across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that light rainfall is expected in the national capital and its adjoining areas. Citizens are expected to see some relief as Delhi has been burning for the past few days with the temperature soaring well above 40 Deg Celsius. This change in weather is expected due to a western disturbance effect in Jammu and Kashmir which will impact North East India region, North East Rajasthan, and Delhi's weather as well.
A local weather station took to Twitter to inform, "24/05/2023: 07:15 IST; Light intensity rain/drizzle and gusty winds with speed of 30-50 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of isolated places of North Delhi, North-East Delhi ( Burari, Model Town, Karawal Nagar), NCR ( Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad)."
Some Twitter users have reacted with joy to this change in weather. A user named Aditya Singh tweeted, "Western disturbances are good thing atleast in Delhi ncr."
Another user named Saloni Agarwal took a sigh of relief as she tweeted "Finally" on the news of light rainfall to be expected in the city.
The states of Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana, and Bihar are also expected to witness light rainfall despite the heatwave which has been burning them for the past few days.
