All Delhi schools will open from November 20, 2023, news agency ANI reported. Winter vacation was proclaimed in schools from November 9 to 18 due to deteriorating air quality in the national capital. "All Government, Government aided and private recognised schools in Delhi shall resume all classes (from pre-school to std XII) physically w.e.f 20.11.2023 i.e, Monday. However, outdoor sports activities and morning assemblies will not be held for next one week from the issuance of this order," Directorate of Education stated in an official order.

Earlier today, the Centre requested officials in the national capital to drop GRAP Stag-IV standards, despite indicators that air quality in the region is improving.

Following an improvement in air quality due to an increase in wind speed and a shift in wind direction, the Centre relaxed strict limits, including a prohibition on construction activities connected to linear projects and the admission of polluting vehicles into Delhi.

These actions are part of the Centre's Graded Response Action strategy (GRAP), which is the last step of its air pollution management strategy.

The Commission for Air Quality Management in the National Capital Region and Adjacent Areas (CAQM), a statutory body charged with developing pollution-fighting strategies in the region, has asked Delhi and the NCR states to revoke all emergency measures, which allow only CNG, electric, and BS VI-compliant vehicles from other states to enter Delhi, with exemptions granted to those involved in essential services.

According to the most recent CAQM directive, all medium and heavy freight trucks that are not engaged in vital services are likewise prohibited in the capital under Stage IV of GRAP.

All other GRAP limits, including a prohibition on non-essential building activities, mining, stone crushers, and diesel generators, will be maintained, according to the pollution control agency.
