Delhi Liquor Police Case: A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and others till December 11 in the excise policy case. The court noted that several documents are yet to be filed by the ED to the accused persons, reported ANI. The Court also expressed displeasure with the lawyers to complete the 207 CrPC compliance as soon as possible so that the trial can start. It also issued notice to the ED and fixed for arguments on November 24, on the interim bail plea of Benoy Babu.
This comes days after the AAP MLA was granted permission to meet his ailing wife. After obtaining permission from a local court, the former Delhi deputy chief minister met with his ill wife on Saturday.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal posted a picture of Sisodia holding his wife on Saturday, calling the treatment unfair for a "person who gave hope to the poor children of the country." AAP leaders, such as Raghav Chadha and Atishi, also expressed their emotions for the jailed leader on social media.
Sisodia was first arrested in the case in February, by the CBI and ED in two separate cases. Last month, the Supreme Court dismissed the bail partition of the AAP leader. His earlier bail applications were rejected by the High Court as well as the trial court. In June, however, the High Court permitted him to meet his wife in custody.
Meanwhile, the judicial custody of AAP MP Sanjay Singh has been extended until November 24. Singh was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case on October 4. According to ANI, two consent letters related to development work seeking his signature were also filed, and the court allowed the same. A production warrant from Punjab in the defamation case was also received in court.
