Delhi Air Pollution: Weeks into winter and with numerous measures taken to bring down the pollutants from the air in Delhi, there is no respite for the residents as the air quality continued to remain in the 'Very Poor' category on Tuesday as well. According to the data of SAFAR India, the AQI of the national capital stood at 323 on Tuesday morning. Air quality in Anand Vihar was at 375, in Jahangirpuri at 399, in Lodhi Road at 315, in New Moti Bagh at 374, as of 7 am, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to news agency PTI, the city's 24-hour average AQI, as of 4 pm on Monday, was recorded at 348, deteriorating from 301 on Sunday. Visuals posted by ANI from Delhi's Nehru Park area showed a thick layer of smog, which has been present in the region for weeks now.
This comes as schools in Delhi after the Centre on Saturday removed strict curbs, including a ban on construction work related to linear projects and the entry of polluting trucks into Delhi after air pollution levels witnessed a slight dip.
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Sunday asked residents to remain vigilant and follow the pollution control measures. According to PTI, he mentioned the progress the city made just before Diwali due to rain and favourable meteorological conditions, which was later compromised by the bursting of firecrackers.
The minister confirmed that restrictions under stages I, II and III of GRAP will continue in the capital, including a ban on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles.
