A fresh spell of rain has lashed parts of Delhi-NCR with dark clouds covering the sky in many areas. The showers have brought respite from the humid weather and heat that the capital has been facing for a couple of days. This comes a week after the city saw waterlogging after rain pounded several areas. Cloudy sky with gusty winds gave relief from humid weather conditions to Delhi residents. According to PTI, the town recorded a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average, as per the India Meteorological Department.
Meanwhile, the IMD predicted a generally cloudy sky with light rain or drizzle during the day. As per PTI, the maximum temperature is likely to settle at 36 degrees Celsius. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 112 around 12 pm and the humidity was 84 per cent at 8:30 am.
Nagpur Flooded As Rain Pounds City
Meanwhile, heavy rain lashed the city of Nagpur in Maharashtra on Friday midnight waterlogging the roads and inundating the low-lying areas as floodwater entered residential areas. According to PTI, Nagpur airport reported 106 mm of rainfall till 5:30 AM. A video shared by the news agency ANI shows several vehicles submerged in water following the torrential rain in the region.
Office of Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis stated that teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed and district administration has been instructed to carry out the rescue operations.
"DCM has instructed the Nagpur Collector, Municipal Commissioner and CP to immediately activate multiple teams for rescuing people who are stuck at few places. NDRF and SDRF teams are also being deployed," the office of the Deputy CM said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
Schools and colleges have been closed in the district in view of the flood and authorities have asked the residents to leave their homes, as per PTI.
