Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal on Saturday alleged in a video message that her husband was made the victim of a political conspiracy and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in the excise policy case on the basis of a false statement by an NDA MP, news agency PTI reported.

Kejriwal's wife also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to "finish off Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party using the ED and CBI."

She claimed that the ED arrested the Delhi CM based on Teulgu Desam Party MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy's (MSR) statement. TDP is a constituent of the ruling National Democratic Alliance.

Sunita Kejriwal asked people to support the Aam Aadmi Party chief, calling him an "honest, educated and patriotic man." She added that if the Delhi CM did not receive public support then no educated person would want to join politics because of the treatment being given to the AAP leader, PTI reported.

She claimed that Reddy changed his statement to the central agency regarding his meeting with Arvind Kejriwal after his son Raghava Magunta Reddy was arrested and denied bail.

According to Sunita Kejriwal, the TDP MP had earlier stated that he met with the Delhi CM on March 16, 2021, charitable trust's land that he wished to open in Delhi. However, following his son's arrest, he changed his statement on July 17, 2023.

TDP MP's Son Released After He Changed Statement

"On December 17, 2022, ED conducted a raid on MSR's residence and he was asked whether he had ever met Kejriwal. He said that yes, 'I met him to buy land in Delhi.' ED was not happy with his statement. ED arrested his son too. MSR's family was having a hard time. MSR, on July 17, 2023, changed his statement and said that on March 16, 2021, I met Kejriwal and he asked me to start liquor business in Delhi and in return give Rs 100 crore to AAP," Sunita Kejriwal claimed.

Sunita Kejriwal also claimed that after Reddy changed his statement, his son was released from jail the next day. "It is apparent that his statement is false," she added.

Delhi CM's wife further said that MSR, in his statement to the ED, stated that Kejriwal had asked him to enter the liquor business in Delhi and pay Rs 100 crore to AAP in the presence of nearly 10 people. To this, she questioned: "Would anybody ask for money before so many people?"

No immediate reaction was available from the ED or the BJP after Sunita Kejriwal's allegations, PTI reported.

Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering case pertaining to alleged irregularities in Delhi government's now scrapped excise policy 2021-22.

The AAP supremo is currently in judicial custody after being arrested by the CBI.
