New Delhi: Two children were killed and another was injured after a wall collapsed in Delhi's Jaitpur extension on Friday, news agency PTI reported.






The deceased have been identified as eight-year-old Ishan and five-year-old Hamza. The incident took place when three children were walking on the street and suddenly the wall surrounding an empty plot collapsed. While two of them died, another child, six-year-old Roshni was seriously injured and is said to be in a critical condition, news agency IANS reported.


All are residents of Jaitpur Extension-II and are neighbours.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Southeast, Rajesh Deo, they received information around 6.30pm that a boy died and two other children were injured in a wall collapse incident.


"The police control room (PCR) call was marked to local police for necessary action. On reaching to the spot of incident, it was found that the injured have been taken to some unknown hospital," IANS quoted the SCP as saying.


According to the report, the brick wall was built around an empty plot and one of the sides collapsed on its own.


An official, who is a part of the investigation, said Ishaan was declared brought dead by the doctors at Alshifa Hospital, Jamia Nagar and Hamza was also brought dead at AIIMS.


In a similar incident earlier in August, two labourers were killed and six others were injured after the wall of an under-construction building collapsed in Delhi’s Okhla, according to reports.


Eight people were buried under the debris following the incident. After rescue, they were rushed to the hospital where two of them were declared brought dead.
