New Delhi: A rape case has been registered against Lok Janshakti Party MP Prince Raj. Following a court order, the rape case was registered at the Connaught Place Police Station in Delhi. As per police officials, the case is currently under investigation. Further action would be taken only after the investigation is completed. MP Prince Raj is the cousin of LJP leader Chirag Paswan.
The victim had lodged a police complaint three months ago. However, no action was taken by the cops, which forced the victim to take help from the court. After a court order, a case has been registered against MP Prince Raj at the Connaught Place Police Station. An FIR has since been lodged against MP Prince Raj under IPC sections relevant to rape. However, when the victim lodged a complaint with the police station, MP Prince Raj had also lodged a complaint against the victim.
According to IANS sources, the victim was a frequent visitor at the LJP party office, where she started meeting MP Raj. In her complaint, she alleged that the incident happened in 2020 at the same party office after she was sedated by Prince Raj.
The LJP MP made an obscene video of the act and blackmailed the victim for "physical relationship".
The victim claimed that she apprised the LJP chief about the incident who pressured her not to file a case against Raj.
The woman then filed a complaint with the Delhi Police in May and moved to a Delhi Court in July which has now directed the police to book LJP MP Prince Raj and his cousin Chirag Paswan.
In June, MP Raj, had denied all charges that were levelled against him and termed them as "blatantly false and fabricated".
He too had filed a complaint against the woman in February and subsequently an FIR was registered against her at the Parliament Street Police Station, here.
"I am extremely saddened by these repeated and malevolent attempts to misuse the well-intended laws for the protection of women of our country," Prince had said in a statement then.
On the first death anniversary of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) founderRam Vilas Paswan, Chirag Paswan had organized an event on September 12. Uncle Pashupati Paras and cousin Prince Raj were also invited for the event. However, both Pashupati Paras and Prince Raj have been said to have turned their backs on Chirag Paswan.
