A case of honour killing has come to light in Mumbai where a man killed his daughter and son-in-law after the woman married a man from other religion. The woman, identified as Gulnaaz reportedly married a man outside her religion against the wishes of her family. Upset over it, the father killed Gulnaaz and her husband Karan Ramesh Chandra (22), a resident of Uttar Pradesh. 


According to the police, a dead body of a man aged around 20-22 was found on October 14 in Mumbai's Govandi area after which a probe was launched and 10 teams were constituted to investigate the case. 


During investigation, the suspicion grew around Raeesuddin Khan for the murder of the couple, the police said. 


Upon interrogation, Raeesuddin confessed that he killed his daughter with the help of his son Salman Gora Khan (22) and other accomplices becuase the couple married each other against his wishes and had started to live together.


The police have recovered Gulnaz's body from a deserted place in Navi Mumbai adjacent to Mumbai.

A case has been registered against the accused at Govandi police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. Raeesuddin and son Salman along with one other person have been arrested and charged for murder while three minors have also been nabbed by the police. 


All three accused have been sent to police custody till October 27.


Last week, a father allegedly killed his daughter for having a relationship with a Dalit boy from Bidalur village in Devanahalli taluk of Rural Karnataka. The father, Manjunath was allegedly upset with her daughter Kavana for having inter-caste relationship with a Dalit.


Previously, Manjunath tried insisting Kavana to avoid relationship but she wanted to marry the boy. Later, the father-daughter duo had a conversation which soon turned into a heated argument. In a fit of rage, the father took out a sickle and slit the throat of his daughter.
