New Delhi: The Mumbai Police on Sunday arrested a third accused in connection with a murder case of a 26-year old kabaddi player in city’s Dharavi area, reported news agency ANI. The other two accused were arrested earlier who had confessed to the crime during interrogation, as per the police, quoted by the news agency.
The 26-year old kabaddi player, Vishalraj Nadar was bludgeoned to death with a cricket stump on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday in Mumbai’s slum area of Dharavi as per the ANI report. Quoting police the report stated that a case was registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code Section 302.
Meanwhile, the family of the slain youth has been staging protests outside the Dharavi police station demanding arrests of all the accused in the case.
One of the accused, Mallesh Chitankadi (32) had bludgeoned Nadar with the cricket stump after which the latter succumbed to his injuries. A murder case was regisetered against Chitankadi who was held from near his home after CCTV footage of the vicinity was checked, said a police official, reported news agency PTI.
