New Delhi: A man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly killed his 14-year-old daughter for turning down his advances in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, PTI reported. After killing his daughter, the man raped her corpse, police said.

The accused is a resident of Jaita Dongar village in Bajranggarh police station limits, PTI quoted superintendent of police Rajiv Kumar Mishra as saying.

Mishra said the 40-year-old man had lodged a complaint with police on Tuesday about his minor daughter going missing from home.

During the investigation, the accused's neighbours informed the police that the minor girl was last seen with her father on Tuesday afternoon. This raised the suspicion of the police and they questioned the man again.

Upon interrogation, the accused broke down and confessed that he had taken his daughter to Damdoli forest to rape her.

However, the girl resisted his sexual advances and threatened to inform other family members. The accused then allegedly strangled her and raped the corpse, PTI reported.

Based on the information provided by the accused, a police team was sent to the forest and the body was recovered.
Mishra said forensic evidence was also collected from the spot.

The accused has been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for murder and rape, PTI quoted Mishra as saying.

The latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report has found that Madhya Pradesh reported most cases of rape of minors with 3,259 incidents followed by 2,785 in Maharashtra and 2,630 in Uttar Pradesh.
