A young girl in Lucknow was discovered hanging from a fan in her home after allegedly being raped on Thursday, causing great consternation, news agency IANS reported.


The occurrence transpired within the locality of Indira Nagar. The girl's father has accused a minor neighbor of both raping and murdering his daughter. The suspect has been apprehended and is currently confined by law enforcement. The remains have been forwarded for further examination and the police is currently waiting for the post-mortem report.


The accused has been identified as Shahid. "My wife reached back home and found Shahid standing in the verandah. When she tried to hold him, he pushed her and ran away," the victim's father was quoted by India Today in its report. 


The authorities reported that the perpetrator forcefully entered the residence of the victim situated in Takrohi during the timeframe of 1:00 and 1:30 pm on Thursday. Afterwards, he committed a sexual assault against her and ended her life by using a hammer. He left the house after suspending her body from a ceiling fan in her room, India Today reported.


The police have reason to believe that the cause of the girl's death is a head injury. 


The atrocious offense has incited anger amongst the nearby populace, urging prompt retribution for the sufferer. Law enforcement is currently conducting a search for the suspect in order to capture them.


This news arrives at a time when the country is already experiencing a wave of disbelief due to the recent occurrence of the live-in partner homicide in Mira Road, close to Mumbai. Manoj Sane, aged 56, was apprehended on Wednesday for the murder of his live-in partner, Saraswati Vaidya, aged 32, in the Mira Road vicinity close to Mumbai. He dismembered her body into over 20 fragments with the help of two cutters, then boiled the parts in a pressure cooker to obliterate any evidence. Manoj Sane was apprehended while attempting to flee.
