The day was January 7, 1946. Six-year-old Suzanne Degnan’s sister woke up to her mother’s wail. Suzanne had been missing from their apartment in Chicago, United States. A ladder was found outside the window of Suzanne’s room. The police came, and upon inspecting the apartment found a $20,000 ransom note, according to media reports from the time.
The 6-year-old was never found alive.
