A liquor trader was shot dead in his car on National Highway 44 in Murthal, Haryana's Sonipat district, on Sunday morning, police reported. The assailants fired at least 30 bullets into his body near Gulshan dhaba, news agency IANS reported. The victim, identified as Sunder Malik from Saragthal village in Gohana, was living in Sonipat at the time of the incident.


Eight teams have been formed to apprehend the suspects. An investigating officer stated that further action would be based on discussions with the victim's family.


Gaurav Rajpurohit, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Sonipat told news agency ANI, "We received info of firing at Gulshan Dhaba (in Murthal) in which one person died. Police reached the spot and took up an investigation. More than 20 rounds of bullets were fired. The crime team is carrying out the investigation. 7-8 teams have been formed. CCTV footage is also being monitored. The deceased was a liquor trader..."






CCTV footage captured the moment when two attackers shot at Malik while he attempted to defend himself. 









The video showed that the incident occurred at around 8:30 am. Sunder Malik was sleeping in his SUV in the dhaba's parking lot when he was dragged out and shot dead by unknown assailants, NDTV reported.

INLD Haryana Chief Nafe Singh Rathi's Murder


This incident follows the shooting of Nafe Singh Rathi, the Haryana unit president of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Jhajjar district on February 26. He was shot dead along with a party worker in Jhajjar's Bahadurgarh town when he was travelling in an SUV. The assailants, who were in a car, attacked him.


Earlier this month, Haryana Police and Delhi Police’s Special Cell in a joint operation nabbed two sharpshooters allegedly involved in the killing of INLD state chief, IANS reported. Twelve people were booked in connection with the killing, including former Bahadurgarh MLA and BJP leader Naresh Kaushik.
