A man was shot dead and another was injured in North East Delhi’s Kabir Nagar, near the Welcome area police station after assailants opened fire at them, in the wee hours of Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Nadeem, he was shot in his forehead and another bullet hit his lower body, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Northeast Rakesh Pawaria told ANI.






The injured was identified as Shahnawaz, he was shot in the leg. 


According to The Times Of India, the police have apprehended three suspects in connection with the case.


The motorcycle-borne assailants barged into Nadeem's house after shooting him they left their motorcycle at the crime scene, stole the victim's mobile phone and fled the scene on Nadeem’s scooty, as per IANS. After being informed about the shooting, a police team reached the spot to identify the cause of the crime.


Nadeem's relatives said that the victim knew the people who shot him.


The victim's younger brother Nazim told IANS, "My brother used to do garment work. Of the five rounds fired at Nadeem, he sustained two bullet wounds, one in the head and another in the spinal cord.


"Nadeem was taken to the hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. Shanwaz sustained a bullet injury to his right leg. We recovered three empty cartridges from the scene," a police official was quoted by TOI. The authorities investigating the motive behind the shooting said that it was likely personal enmity or a financial dispute.


DCP Pawaria further told ANI, that another incident occurred soon after in Jyoti Nagar, where bullets were fired in the air.
