Delhi police arrested a man for brutally attacking another man in the Model Town area of the city after the victim allegedly asked him not to urinate in public. The incident took place on Friday and was caught on CCTV, a video of which went viral on social media.
In the video, it can be seen that the victim was sleeping on the footpath when the accused came there on a bike with two other people. The accused gets off the bike, goes to the sleeping man and wakes him up. He then starts beating him up with a stick while his friends remain on the bike, watching the attack unfold.
After assaulting the victim for nearly 20 seconds, the accused stops and moves towards the bike. While the victim tries to compose himself after the sudden attack, the accused comes back and starts hitting him again for another 20 seconds. He later fled on the bike with his two friends.
During the initial probe into the case, police reportedly found that the accused, identified as Aryan, works as a servant at a house in the same area. On Thursday, Aryan was urinating in the open near a park when the victim, identified as Ramfal, who works at a nearby shop, tried to stop him. Both then reportedly argued over the incident. A day later, Aryan returned with his friend and attacked the victim.
The police have started an investigation into the matter, and after analysing the CCTV they arrested Aryan. However, he was granted bail immediately.
No information is available on the state of the victim or the two men who accompanied Aryan.
