A man has been arrested for killing his wife after a fight in Delhi's Khajuri Khas area. The accused has been identified as Sunil Kumar, 28, a native of Uttar Pradesh’s Hardoi, who strangled his wife after attacking her with a hammer, Delhi police said, as reported by news agency ANI. The incident took place on Sunday and the accused fled the scene after the incident. 


North East Delhi Police Deputy Commissioner Joy Tirkey said that Sunil was found hiding inside a tube well in Hardoi. Turkey further said that the accused revealed during interrogation that he had a fight with his wife, identified as Draupadi, on September 16, after which the incident took place.


"Investigation revealed that he was a resident of Hardoi & our team was investigating. He was found hiding inside a tubewell in Hardoi (in UP). During interrogation, he revealed that they had a fight on September 16, during which he attacked her (his wife) with a hammer and later strangled her to death," Tirkey said, as quoted by ANI.






Earlier, the police informed us that a call was received on Sunday, and after entering the house, they found the body of the victim lying under the bed. Joy N. Tirkey had said that the woman was identified by her daughter, and both of them were living with her stepfather.


"Last night around 8 we got a call. After breaking the lock of the house, body of a woman was found lying under the bed. Police immediately reached the spot. She has been identified as one Draupadi...She has a daughter of 15 years. She(daughter) only identified her and they were living with her (daughter's) stepfather. Her stepfather has been missing since yesterday. He was last seen on September 16...We talked to the neighbours and they told us that there were differences between the couple," Tirkey said, as quoted by ANI on Monday.
