Police in the US state of Idaho have said they were investigating a shooting that left four people dead in the small city of Kellogg, and one person was in custody. Idaho State Police said on Monday issued a statement saying that the Shoshone County dispatch centre received a 911 call on Sunday evening, indicating that multiple people had been killed inside a residence in Kellogg, as reported by the news agency IANS.

Law enforcement officers found four people dead when they arrived and detained a 31-year-old male believed to be connected with the deaths, according to the statement.


Police blocked off parts of an apartment complex in Kellogg. According to local media reports, the shooting occurred at multi-dwelling units behind the Mountain View Congregational Church on Sunday, Xinhua news agency reported. State Police further said that the Law enforcement has not yet identified the victims or the suspect, and they believe that there is no additional threat to the community.

In another incident, a man carrying an axe entered three Chinese restaurants on Monday night in New Zealand’s largest city Auckland and injured four people, news agency Reuters reported citing authorities and local media. All the victims were admitted to the North Shore and Auckland Hospital in Auckland. One of them was discharged and three were in stable condition, Reuters reported citing spokespersons of respective hospitals on Tuesday.


The man went into three Chinese restaurants — Zhangliang Malatang, Yues Dumpling Kitchen, and Maya Hotpot — and randomly attacked people with an axe around 9 PM on Monday night, Reuters reported citing local media. Speaking to Radio New Zealand, a local news organisation, a witness stated that she was eating at Maya Hotpot with a friend when a man approached her friend with an axe.
