Tamil Nadu authorities have directed the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) to investigate an alleged attack on the residence of YouTuber 'Savukku' Shankar, known for his outspoken views on political and administrative matters. Shankar alleged police inaction and complicity and requested the Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun to transfer the case to another investigative agency.

A group of 20 men and women, dressed as sanitary workers, allegedly stormed Shankar's home in Kilpauk on Monday. His mother, Kamala, was alone at the time of the incident. She alleged that the intruders forced entry through the door and ransacked the house.

The assailants reportedly dumped sewage mixed with human excreta inside the premises before issuing a chilling warning: "Now we have stopped with this. Next time, we will set fire to you inside the house."

Shankar's Mother Links Attack To Exposé On Corruption

Kamala in a police complaint alleged that the attack could be linked to Shankar’s recent exposé on alleged corruption in the procurement of sewage trucks. Shankar has accused senior city police officials of orchestrating the assault.

Shankar alleged that the attackers acted at the behest of Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun. He also released CCTV footage purportedly showing the group vandalising his home.

Kamala stated in her complaint she attempted to contact her son, but the assailants snatched her mobile phone and initiated a video call with him. Later, the group staged a protest outside the residence, demanding his arrest.
