Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati In Trouble Again After Another FIR Over 'Prophet Hate Speech'

Yati Narsinghanand has been booked under Section 302 for allegedly hurting religious sentiments, following a complaint by a police officer in Ghaziabad.

An FIR was registered against Mahant Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati on Thursday for delivering an inflammatory speech at an event held on September 29 at Hindi Bhavan in Lohia Nagar, Ghaziabad. Mahant Narsinghanand is accused of hurting the religious sentiments of people from other communities. So far, Narsinghanand has not been arrested. 

The case against Narsinghanand was registered under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code on the complaint of Trivendra Singh, a police officer at Sihani Gate police station, for hurting religious sentiments. Sachin Kumar, SHO of Sihani Gate police station, said, "An FIR has been registered against Yati Narsinghanand on the basis of a purported viral video, but we have not arrested him yet. Action will be taken only after the video is investigated."

In the video, which is being widely shared, Yati Narsinghanand can be heard abusing Prophet Muhammad.

Trivendra Singh said that on Thursday evening he was on patrol in the Lohia Nagar outpost area. During this time, he got information that a controversial video of Mahant Yati Narsinghanand of Dasna Devi temple was going viral on social media. When he checked the video, it was found that on September 29, an event was organised at Hindi Bhavan under the banner of Amar Balidani Major Asaram Vyag Seva Sansthan. In this programme, Yati Narsinghanand made objectionable remarks about another community in his speech.

Reacting to the latest alleged 'hate speech', the AIMIM's Uttarakhand unit called for strict police action against him. Nayyer Kazmi, AIMIM Uttarakhand president, said: "This person [Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati] abuses the Prophet whenever he wants. I have complained about this many times but due to the leniency of the government and the friendship of the police, he was protected."

This is not the first time Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati has stirred controversy with his speeches. In 2022, he was even arrested for his hate speeches. In December 2021, Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati called on Hindus to use better weapons against the "threat of Muslims". He delivered the speech at the congregation of religions in Haridwar, 'Dharm Sansad'.
