Wolf Attack in UP: Two kids were injured in fresh wolf attacks in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district on the intervening night between Tuesday and Wednesday. The attacks occurred in the Gadarian Purwa and Bhawanipur villages of Mahsi block. First, 11-year-old Suman from Gadarian Purwa fell victim to the attacks around midnight. Later, around 5 AM, the wolf attacked 10-year-old Shivani. Both the children are now undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College, Bahraich.

The attack is suspected to have been carried out by just one wolf from the maneaters' pack as five others have already been caught. The fifth wolf was caught by forest department personnel on Tuesday. So far the pack has killed 10 people, including nine children, and injured more than 50.

How Are The Wolves Attacking Kids?

While Some of the attacks occurred when kids were playing outside their home, usually alone, some of the locals said that the wolves crept into those houses that did not have doors. Some villagers even termed these as "revenge attacks".

There are more than five dozen villages in Mahsi tehsil where several houses do not have secured doors. But when wolf attacks started, doors were installed with the help of the forest department and local public representatives.

Divisional forest officer Ajit Pratap Singh said the sixth wolf is now very alert and has changed its ambush strategy. The forest department launched 'Operation Bhediya (Operation Wolf)' on July 17 to catch the wolves. However, the sixth wolf of the maneaters' pack remains elusive.

He said that when the sixth wolf would be caught soon. "It's just a matter of time. We are putting in 100% effort every day. Our team is working day and night to catch the entire pack.".
