Hyderabad Businessman Murder: VC Janardhan Rao, the Chairman and Managing Director of Veljan Group of Companies, was allegedly murdered by his 28-year-old grandson after an altercation over property in Hyderabad.
The grandson, Keerthi Teja, had returned from the US after a postgraduate course. He visited Rao, his maternal grandfather, along with his mother in Hyderabad on Thursday night. He was talking to his grandfather when an argument broke out over a director position in the firm, as per media reports. Rao had recently appointed his eldest daughter's son Srikrishna as director of Veljan Group and transferred shares Rs 4 crore to Teja.
Teja accused Rao of neglecting him since childhood. Teja lost his cool and allegedly stabbed Rao with a knife. Reports claimed the victim was stabbed over 70 times. Police stated that there were multiple stab wounds and that the exact number would be confirmed based on the post-mortem examination report.
Teja also stabbed his mother when she tried to intervene. She sustained injuries and was admitted to a hospital, Panjagutta police said, adding that he was subsequently arrested.
A case of murder was registered against the accused, police said, adding that further investigation is ongoing.
