The Vadodara City Police issued a notification stating the closure of 33 roads and alternate routes ahead of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's arrival to the city late Sunday evening. 


The closure and diversion of roads will be in effect from Sunday night until the end of the event on Monday. A heavy VVIP movement is expected in Vadodara with Union ministers, delegations, and special business invitees also arriving in the city. 


The area between the domestic airport and the TATA Advanced Systems Ltd (TASL) manufacturing facility, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with his Spanish counterpart, has been turned into a fortress. Sanchez will be staying at the Lakshmi Villas Palace and ITC Welcomhotel. 


According to the Vadodara city police notification issued on Saturday 33 routes have been diverted in Harni, VIP Road, Fatehgunj, Gorwa, Akota, Pandya Bridge, Atal Bridge, Alkapuri, Chakli Circle and OP Road mainly leading to the airport and the TASL facility as well as routes towards Welcomhotel at Alkapuri, where the Spanish PM will be hosted. 


Traffic movement has also been restricted on roads leading to Rajmahal Road, where leaders of the two nations will head for a vital bilateral meeting and lunch. Traffic movement will be restricted from 10 pm on Sunday to 3 am on Monday and from 6 am on Monday until the end of the events.


PM Sánchez will arrive at Vadodara airport on Sunday and head to ITC Welcomhotel for the night, as per the notification. On Monday morning, he will depart for the airport circle and join PM Modi at the TASL facility for the inauguration.


As per the notification, vehicles travelling to the airport will be allowed on presenting valid tickets with an exemption for vehicles pressed into emergency services, such as ambulances, fire brigade and police patrol teams.
