In a shocking case, a family from Lucknow was demanded to pay Rs 6 crore by the perpetrators and threatened that intimate footage will be released if they did not comply to do so.

As per the details, the incident was reported from an upscale apartment society, The Times of India reported. 

The matter came to light when a couple received the messages on Wednesday night. The couple was distressed when they saw the private footage, which was secretly recorded in their bathroom, in a message received from a certain mobile number.

Senior inspector Rajesh Kumar, Sushant Golf City police station, said that they are treating this case with utmost priority as the case is sensitive and its psychological impact on the victims. "We are treating this case with utmost priority given its sensitive nature and the psychological impact on the victims," he said.

As per the information, the investigation has revealed a surveillance operation, with police discovering a concealed camera installed through a deliberately created opening in the bathroom's false ceiling.

Nipun Agarwal, DCP, South Zone, said that some suspects have been detained and they are being interrogated regarding the case.

Earlier in December 2024, the director of a school in Uttar Pradesh's Noida was arrested for placing a spy camera in the bulb socket of the teachers' washroom. The spy camera was specifically designed to be placed inside a bulb holder, which made it undetectable. 

It reportedly enabled him to watch live footage of those who entered the washroom through his mobile phone and computer. According to media reports, the director, Navnish Sahay, live streamed the footage from the teachers' washroom directly to his personal devices. The incident took place at a play school named Learn with Fun in Noida's Sector 70. The camera was disclosed when one of the teachers noticed the camera and alerted the police.
