A shocking incident has come to the fore from Uttar Pradesh's Rampur, where a man married his son's bride-to-be after falling in love with her during his visits to her house. Shakeel, who is already married to Shabana, has six children and three grandchildren.

The 55-year-old man maintained regular contact with his son's fiancee, who was from a neighbouring village after his daughter's wedding last month. Shabana said that Shakeel had first set up his minor son's marriage to the 22-year-old woman and then regularly talked to her over phone.

According to a report by Times Of India, the family opposed the marriage due to financial issues and the boy's young age, but Shakeel insisted on getting his minor son married with the woman, and even used physical force to enforce the match.

She claimed that Shakeel maintained regular contact with their minor son's bride-to-be, and that she was suspicious that he was having an affair with the woman, NDTV reported.

"He used to video call her the whole day. At first, no one believed me. Then my son and I collected evidence against them, Shabnam said, adding that she even caught him with her on two occasions.

The TOI report said that the son had become suspicious of his father's intentions after he noticed frequent telephone exchanges between him and his fiancee. "Once, I checked his phone and found some objectionable content involving him," Shakeel's son said.

Shakeel recently went to Delhi for work, but later called up his family to announce he had married his to be daughter-in-law.

No formal police complaint has been registered so far by the family. "We are aware of the incident, but no formal complaint has been received so far," Bhota Station House Officer Amar Singh Rathore told TOI on Friday.

"If any aggrieved party comes forward, action will be taken as per the law," he added.

Meanwhile, Shakeel's son has also alleged that his grandparents were aware about the affair, and even helped his father get married. He said Shakeel left the house with Rs 2 lakh cash and nearly 17 grams of gold, NDTV reported.
