Union Minister Nityanand Rai's nephew was killed in a dispute over drinking water in Jagatpur village in Bihar's Bhagalpur.

According to reports, a minor disagreement between Rai's two nephews, Jai Jit Yadav and Vishwajit Yadav, quickly escalated into a violent confrontation. The incident unfolded on Thursday morning at the residence of Raghunandan Yadav, the brother-in-law of the minister, in Jagatpur. 






Eyewitnesses claimed that a domestic help while serving water to Jai Jit dipped his hand into the water, a gesture that sparked an argument between the two brothers. It is reported that their relationship was already strained.


Gunfire And Casualties


Amid the escalating dispute, Vishwajit got a pistol from the house and fired at Jai Jit, causing serious injury to his jaw. In a subsequent altercation, Jai Jit managed to wrestle a pistol from an individual named Vikal and fired back, killing Vikal on the spot. Vishwajit died at the scene, while Jai Jit has been admitted to a private hospital in Bhagalpur in critical condition.


High-Profile Investigation


The case has drawn significant attention due to the involvement of relatives of the Union Minister. Police arrived promptly following reports of the incident and initiated an investigation. Teams from Navgachhia and Parbatta police have called in FSL experts, collected evidence and conducted videography of the scene. 


Meanwhile, Range IG Vivek Kumar has instructed the Navgachhia SP to assess the situation and enforce strict security measures.


"Jai Jit has been referred for advanced treatment. Police continue to conduct a thorough investigation, with Navgachhia police maintaining a presence at the scene," Navgachhia SP Prerna Kumar said.
