Uttar Pradesh's Etah witnessed tense scenes after an idol of Lord Shani Dev was vandalised by some unidentified people on Saturday evening. This is the second such incident in the area in a week


Village head Pankaj Singh lodged a complaint against unknown persons and demanded swift action.


Circle Officer Sanjay Singh, along with Station House Officer (SHO) Neeta Maheshwari inspected the site and assured the villagers of immediate action. "This is a serious incident. We are investigating the matter from all angles and will arrest the culprits soon," Singh said.


The SHO appealed to locals to remain calm and assured them that police personnel had been deployed in the village to maintain law and order.


Chicken Killed With Bricks Over Land Dispute


Meanwhile, a chicken was killed with bricks and stones over a land dispute in Ballia. The owner was also beaten up when she protested. Two accused were booked in the Pakdi area, police said on Sunday.


Police sources, citing the FIR, said the incident occurred on March 21 in Garhmalpur village of Pakdi police station area. The chicken owner Aarti Devi alleged harassment when she sought an explanation from the accused about killing the chicken.


Based on her complaint, a case has been registered against Suraj Ram and Sheela Devi under BNS sections 325 (killing an animal), 115-2 (intentional hurt), 352 (intentional insult with intent to disturb peace) and 351-3 (threatening to kill or cause grievous hurt to any person).


Additional Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Jha said police are investigating the case.
