The CISF unit of the Taj Mahal issued a clarification on Wednesday after a video of a woman pouring gangajal on a Shivling inside the mausoleum premises went viral.
In the viral video, a woman named Meera Rathaur claimed she brought holy water from the River Ganga in Prayagraj. She placed the shivling in one corner inside the Taj Mahal and offered prayer offering the gangajal.
She also claimed that the monument is not named Taj Mahal but Tejo Mahal in the undated video.
The purported video has been shared on social media with the claim that the woman performed the act on Wednesday, on the occasion of Shivratri.
Issuing a clarification on the issue, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), tasked with the security of public places, stated that no such incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the premises on Wednesday.
"A video is going viral on social media today, dated 26.02.25, in which it is claimed that on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri on 26.02.25, Mrs. Meera Rathore, District President of the Women's Wing of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, resident of Nagla Mahadev, Police Station Tajganj, Agra, allegedly described the Taj Mahal as the "Tejomahalay" of Lord Shiva, a deity of Hindus, and performed worship by entering the Taj Mahal with a Shivling," the CISF stated in its clarification.
". In this regard, it is informed that an additional deputation has been made for Maha Shivaratri, and all force members have been kept on alert. No confirmation of such an incident has been found through CCTV footage. Therefore, no such incident took place today," it added.
