The convoy of Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, while he was en route to the Superintendent of Police Office in Cooch Behar.

The windshied of the police car was thrashed. The whole incident took place during a protest programme and TMC dubbed all the charges as a "well-scripted drama." The BJP leader was travelling to the north Bengal district to lead a demonstration of BJP outside the office of Cooch Behar Supritendant of Police. He faced a lot of sloganeering and was shown black flag when he entered the Khagrabari area. 

According to Suvendu Adhikari, a mob gathered at the Khagrabari area holding TMC party's flags with black flags at around 12:35 PM, when his convoy was passing from that area. The mob was shouting "go back" slogans and also hurled shoes at Suvedu's vehicles. The BJP leader had flown to Bagdogra and was on his way to the SP's office in Cooch Behar when the incident occurred.

BJP party workers had planned a gherao of the SP office to protest against recent attacks on party MLAs in that area. The LoPin the assembly was scheduled to meet the SP during this visit.

The BJP blamed the ruling TMC party for these recent attack, claiming it was a “pre-planned attempt to intimidate the Leader of the Opposition”. The TMC, however, claimed that no TMC workers were was there and involved in the vandalism and also claimed that the attack was a "result of the internal feud within the BJP". According to Trinamool Congress leaders in Cooch Behar, they observed a 'Bhasa andolan' (Language Movement) on Tuesday in different parts of the district.
