In a 10-day tour of West Bengal, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat met the RG Kar Hospital rape and murder victim's parents in Kolkata on Saturday. Reportedly during the meeting, he assured them of getting justice with all possible help.
“Mohan Bhagwat said he is with us in our fight for justice, he will help us as much as he can. We spoke to him for an hour and he also invited us to have lunch with him. We have given him a letter on everything that has happened and our fight for justice. He assured us he will do everything he can to ensure we get justice,” the deceased victim’s father said after meeting the RSS chief at Newtown Guest House.
According to a report by Indian Express, the victim’s father further mentioned that they have sent letters and emails to the offices of the President, Prime Minister, and home minister seeking an appointment but they are yet to receive any response.
'Insult To All Of Us': Bhagwat On RG Kar Incident
The rape and murder of a junior doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in August last year sparked widespread outrage and led to protests across the state.
In October, Bhagwat condemned the alleged attempts to suppress the case, calling it a "shameful incident" and an "insult to all of us" while addressing RSS workers at the Vijayadashami Utsav in Nagpur.
Last month, West Bengal BJP president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar met the victim’s parents, assuring them that he would escalate their concerns about the CBI investigation to the appropriate authorities. On the same day, the parents also met West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose, who reportedly assured them that justice would be served.
