RJD supreme Lalu Prasad Yadav on Sunday expelled his elder son Tej Pratap Yadav from the party over 'public conduct and irresponsible behaviour' after the latter's relationship post on Facebook went viral.

Tej Pratap Yadav, who has served as a former Bihar minister, on Saturday said he was in a relationship with a young woman, prompting netizens to recall his marital dispute that made headlines a few years ago. Tej Pratap, who is the elder son of RJD president Lalu Prasad, made the confession in a Facebook post, sharing a photograph of himself with his current flame.

Responding to Tej Pratap's post, which went viral on social media, the RJD supremo said he is removing his son from the party for six years, adding that he will have no role in the RJD.

"Neglecting moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public conduct and irresponsible behaviour of the eldest son are not in accordance with our family values and traditions. Therefore, due to the above circumstances, I remove him from the party and family. From now on, he will have no role in either. He has been expelled from the party for six years," Lalu Yadav said in a post on X.

"One is responsible for assessing the right and wrong, good and bad, in their personal life. He himself has decided to distance himself and maintain only personal relations. The message of Lohia-ism and socialism has always prioritised personal morality in public life. The family has embraced the same belief," the post said.

In the social media post that has drawn ire from the former Bihar chief minister, Tej Pratap wrote: "I am Tej Pratap Yadav and the one seen in this picture is Anushka Yadav. We have been known to each other for the last 12 years. We are in love and have been in a relationship for 12 years."

"I have been wanting to share this with you for a long time.....therefore, I am revealing it before you all. I hope you will be able to understand me," he added.

The internet post did not go down well with social media users though, with many of them taunting the 37-year-old politician about his marriage that took place with much fanfare in 2018.

Tej Pratap Yadav had tied the knot with Aishwarya, granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Rai. However, within a few months, Aishwarya left his house alleging that she was driven out by her husband and in-laws.

However, soon after the post went viral, the former minister claimed that his Facebook page had been hacked. In a separate post, he said that there was an attempt to defame and harass him and his family members.

"My social media platform was hacked and my photographs were edited wrongfully," Yadav said. The post has now been deleted from the social media handle.
