RG Kar Doctor Rape-Murder Case: Bharatiya Janata Party Bengal President Sukanta Majumdar on Thursday made a massive claim against the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh, alleging that he ordered a renovation at the medical facility on the very next day of the incident in a bid to tamper the evidence.
The BJP leader also shared an official letter signed by Ghosh dated August 10. "The order, signed by Sandip Ghosh, former director of RG Kar Medical College, is dated August 10, just one day after the victim's death. Despite allegations from colleagues and protesters about tampering with the crime scene, the Police Commissioner denied it," Majumdar tweeted.
The letter, written by Ghosh to the PWD, requested repair, renovation, and reconstruction of on-duty doctors' rooms along with separate attached toilets in all departments at the RG Kar Hospital on an "urgent basis".
The "explosive" claim was also made by BJP IT head Amit Malviya, who shared the letter on X calling it "yet another piece of evidence" to establish Ghosh ordered the repair and renovation of toilet near the seminar hall where the crime took place.
"Yet another piece of evidence, which establishes that Dr Sandip Ghosh, now arrested, disgraced former Principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, ordered repair/renovation of toilet, near the Seminar Room (scene of crime) on 10th Aug, a day after the young lady doctor was brutally raped and murdered (she was killed on the intervening night of 8th/9th Aug)," Malviya said.
Bengal CM Colluded With Police, Hospital Admin To Sanitise Crime Scene: BJP
Slamming the Mamata Banerjee-led government for allegedly covering up the matter, Maviya stated: "It means the claim of renovation starting prior to the date of crime was an OUTRIGHT LIE. The WB Govt and the hospital LIED. Kolkata Police even filed complaints against those, who shared the video of the broken wall."
He further alleged that the Kolkata police, Bengal CM, and hospital administration "colluded to destroy all evidences and santised the scene of crime". "This is evil and raises further questions on their motives," he said.
The BJP leader demanded the resignation of Vineet Goyal, Commissioner of Kolkata Police and CM Mamata Banerjee and that they must be subjected to a polygraph test. "Call records of the CM and Kolkata CP, for 72 hours after the crime, should be put in the public domain. Their conversations investigated," he added.
The renovation work at RG Kar Hospital had raised doubts after it was brought to light. The BJP had alleged back then that the efforts were underway to tamper evidence at the crime scene. Now, the party has shared the letter, stressing its previous claim.
Meanwhile, the former RG Kar principal, Ghosh, has been remanded to eight-day CBI custody in connection with the alleged financial irregularities at the medical facility during his tenure. He has challenged Calcutta HC's order of CBI probe into the corruption case before the Supreme Court. The case was transferred from the state-constituted Special Investigation Team to the CBI on high court's order last month.
