RG Kar Doctor Death: Amid the public outrage and nationwide protests and strikes over the rape and murder of the junior doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Trinamool Congress MP and national spokesperson Mahua Moitra took to social media to "put a few facts on record" and "bust a few myths and fake propaganda".

This comes as Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee led a protest rally today, demanding justice for the 31-year-old victim and claiming BJP and CPM's involvement in vandalising the medical facility on August 14 night.

In a video, Moitra stated a few points to address the "fake news" being circulated.

Referring to media reports that mentioned "150 grams of bodily fluid" being recovered from the victim's body, she clarified that the autopsy mentioned the weight of the inner and outer genitilia, which was around 150 grams. She also said that it must be noted the post mortem was carried out in the presence of a judicial magistrate and three doctors as witnesses and family members.

Moitra also added that fluids are measured in millimetres and not in grams. The weight had nothing to do with the amount of fluids found, she said.

Dismissing claims that the crime scene was tampered with and that there was some sort of construction going on there, the TMC MP clarified the place of occurrence was immediately sealed off by the police after the incident was brought to light. "Only the police and CBI have access to it," she added.

On claims of construction at the PO, Moitra said that the health secretary had spoken to the students who had said that there was a need for toilets in the hospital "immediately".

"The Superintendent engineer was asked without delay to construct the toilets. This is why work started there to construct the toilets and rest area in keeping with the students' demands," she said.

Moitra further stressed that this was not the PO or crime scene where the construction was being carried out. "The PO is entirely separate."

The TMC MP also refuted reports of an inquiry committee being set up to analyse the mental health and psychiatric condition of the victim.

She clarified that an internal five-member enquiry committee was set up as per the normal standard operating procedure (SOP) to ascertain if there were any lapses on the part of the hospital. "The committee was only set up to look into the administrative lapses and to see an internal inquiry. This was not an inquiry to go into the psychiatric state of the student," Moitra said.

A day before the TMC MP had asserted that the allegations against the TMC government over "systemic cover-up" were incorrect.

BJP Leader Smriti Irani Raises Questions Over Kolkata Doctor's Death & Probe

BJP leader Smriti Irani raised several questions over the rape and murder of the RG Kar doctor.

"The question arises did no one hear the screams of that woman on that floor? It has also come to light from media reports that 150 mg of semen was found in that woman. Is this the work of one rapist? Was it possible that one person was raping that woman, breaking her legs, breaking her hands, gouging out her eyes, hitting her chest, hitting her stomach, and that woman was screaming and no one heard her? And this entire act was committed by one rapist alone?" she asked.

She further questioned who is the one becuase of whom the culprit committed the crime and fled the spot without any worries.

"Who is the one because of whom the rapist was assured in the hospital that he could return home after committing the rape? Who is the one who continued the renovation on the same floor of the hospital even after such a heinous crime? What action has been taken so far against the officer in the police who called the parents of this woman and told them that the girl had committed suicide? Who instructed that officer to tell the girl's parents that it was a suicide? If that officer is his superior officer, then how did he reach this conclusion?..." the BJP leader quizzed.
