In a shocking revelation, Sonam Raghuvanshi, 24, has been arrested in connection with the murder of her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya. The crime, which has stunned Indore and drawn nationwide attention, was uncovered through a joint operation between the Indore and Shillong police.
According to Meghalaya DGP I Nongrang, four people, including Sonam, have been arrested so far. Sonam allegedly orchestrated her husband’s murder by hiring contract killers. Raja, a tourist from Indore, went missing on May 23 in the East Khasi Hills district. His body was later discovered in a ditch, sparking a week-long, high-intensity investigation.
Raj Kushwaha, identified as the mastermind, was in constant contact with Sonam. Police used call detail records to track and arrest him. Anand, the first to attack Raja, and Vicky Thakur are also among those arrested. Input provided by Indore Crime Branch was crucial for the Ghazipur police, helping piece together the conspiracy.
The case took another turn when Sonam was found late at night at a roadside eatery, Kashi Dhaba, on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway. According to Uttar Pradesh ADG (Law & Order) Amitabh Yash, Sonam was taken to Sadar Hospital for medical examination before being placed in a One Stop Centre for further processing.
Eyewitnesses at the dhaba confirmed Sonam arrived around 1 AM and requested to borrow a phone to contact her family. Moments later, police arrived and took her into custody.
According to the sources further investigation revealed that Sonam had booked a one-way ticket to Meghalaya under the guise of a honeymoon trip but had not arranged a return. Authorities now believe the murder was premeditated, with the trip serving as a cover for the crime.
