Two men riding a bike narrowly escaped death after being hit head-on by a speeding SUV in Uttar Pradesh’s Raebareli. The terrifying crash, which was caught on CCTV, has gone viral on social media, shocking viewers.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 2, in the Unchahar market area along the Lucknow-Prayagraj National Highway. Footage shows the out-of-control SUV slamming into the bikers, flinging them several feet into the air before they landed on an e-rickshaw behind them.
According to reports, the SUV was decorated with wedding garlands and was en route to pick up the groom when it collided with the bikers. The victims, identified as Surya and his friend Guru Sharan from Kandarawa, were on their way to a roadside juice stall when the accident took place, reported Free Press Journal. Both suffered serious injuries but survived.
The driver of the SUV, however, did not stop after the crash and continued speeding, later hitting a pedestrian, Mohammad Kaleem, near the Hanuman Temple. Bystanders rushed the injured to the Community Health Centre (CHC), and one critically injured victim was referred to the district hospital for advanced treatment.
Authorities have since seized the SUV and launched an investigation. Police have registered a case and are probing the incident further. The viral CCTV footage has helped bring the matter to light, sparking outrage over reckless driving.
