The coupling of the Nandan Kanan Express headed to Puri from Delhi broke in Uttar Pradesh's Chandauli on Monday, splitting it into two parts. The incident took place around 9.30 pm near the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) Junction on Monday. The train was already delayed by more than three hours.
The two sleeper coaches were then brought to the DDU Junction and the passengers were shifted to another coach. The train was rejoined and was sent on its way again around 1:00 am.
In November last year, a railway employee died after being crushed between a train's engine and a coach while uncoupling the train at Barauni Junction in Bihar. The incident occurred due to "miscommunication" between railway staff, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had said.
