An encounter broke out between Punjab Police and gangsters in the Kheda village of the Tarn Taran district on Saturday. According to police sources, three gangsters were involved in the shootout. Two of them were injured, while one was arrested.

During the encounter, a bullet also hit a police vehicle, as per an ANI report.

Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh, while speaking to ANI, said that the gangsters were in touch with Gopi Numberdar, and they were coming to Khehra Village.

On Saturday morning, police were patrolling when they received information that a few suspicious people were arriving in Khehra Village and they should be stopped.

When the police tried to stop them, they started firing bullets. There were three individuals on a motorcycle – Arshdeep Singh, Robinpreet Singh and Karadeeep Singh. When the gunfire started, the police also fired in self-defence. Arshdeep Singh and Robinpreet Singh were injured.

Arshdeep Singh is already wanted in a murder case, while Karandeep Singh was arrested on the spot. They have been involved in extortion as well as Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases, the SP said.

The arrested individual will be taken into remand and questioned about the plan they intended to execute in Khehra. An FIR is being registered immediately, they police said.
