Pune: As many as six people were arrested in Pune for allegedly attacking a teenager with a machete during a dandiya programme in Pune's Katraj on Tuesday night.


The arrested accused have been identified as Amit Chorge, 27, Prasad Rajge, 26, Ajay Rajge, 26, Siddhesh Sanas, 26, Akshay Savant, 26, and Vijay Rajge (19). All six of them are residents of the Ambegaon area, Indian Express reported.


The victim, Arjun More, was allegedly attacked while he was watching the dandiya programme at Santosh Nagar in Katraj along with his uncle. The 19-year-old young man is a resident of Shahpur in Thane district. The incident took place at around 9 PM, when Chorge and his aides allegedly started waving sharp weapons like machetes, during a brawl. The men reportedly had a past dispute with some locals and wanted to scare the people at the spot.


As people started fleeing the area to save themselves, Arjun More fell to the ground. He was then allegedly attacked multiple times with sharp weapons, which left him in a pool of blood. The severely injured teenager then lodged an FIR at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station on Wednesday, October 9, the report said.


After receiving the complaint, the police took swift action and rushed to the spot, where they arrested six people. One of the accused, Chorge, has a previous criminal record. Police said that search is underway for four other suspects.


The six accused have been booked on several charges, including attempt to murder, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. The case is being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Samir Shende.


45-Yr-Old Attacked With Sharp Weapons At Dandiya Event In Pune


In another similar incident, a man was attacked with sharp weapons, including a machete, after a dispute at a dandiya programme on Pune's B T Kawade Road on Tuesday night. Eight peopl have been booked by the police in the case.


The victim, Anand Devendra Mangle (45), a resident of B T Kawade Road, Ghorpadi, was injured after he intervened in a fight. The accused were reportedly assaulting Rajwardhan Nugla when Mangle intervened, following which Mangle was attacked with a machete, leaving him injured.


An FIR was lodged by his wife at the Mundhwa police station on October 9. The case is being investigated by Assistant Police Inspector Annasaheb Tapare.


The accused have been identified as Ishwar Dandeli, Maruti Gawandi, Rushikesh Dandeli, Nikhil Gawandi, Vishal Gawandi, Santosh Dandeli, Javed Shaikh and Aniket Angal.
