Pune News: An elderly couple was arrested in Pune for allegedly assaulting a woman who was travelling on a scooter with her two children, said the police. The road rage incident occurred on Saturday when Swapnil Kekre, who was allegedly angry for not getting space to overtake, pulled the woman's hair and punched her twice in the face which led to her nose bleeding.

A case was registered against Kekre after Jerlyn D'Silva, a digital content creator, posted a video narrating her ordeal.

The content creator claimed she was on the Pashan-Baner Link Road on a scooter with her two children when Kekre had been speeding in his car behind them for nearly two kilometres, according to an NDTV report.

D'Silva said she pulled her scooter to a side, not wanting to come in the car's way, but the man overtook her scooter and stopped in front of it.

"He got out of the car very furiously. He punched me twice and pulled my hair. I had two kids, he didn't care about them. How safe is this city? Why are people behaving like maniacs," D'Silva said in the video.

"I had two kids with me, kuch bhi ho sakta tha (anything could have happened)... A woman helped me," she said, bleeding from nose and mouth.

An FIR was registered by the Pune police against the man under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, who was later arrested along with his wife, who was present with him at the time of the incident, reported India Today.

"The case has been registered at Chaturshrungi Police Station, and further investigations are underway," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vijayakumar Magar.

The incident comes amid a series of road rage incidents in the state. In May this year, a 17-year-old allegedly drunk boy rammed his Porsche into two 24-year-old techies in Pune, killing them on the spot. The teen is currently out on bail.

Last week, the son of a leader from Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena faction rammed his BMW into a couple, killing the wife and injuring the husband. He was arrested by the police.
